How do I choose the right physical therapist for me?

Each Physical Therapist has their own philosophy and approach to patient care, which is influenced by their education, experience and clinical environment. You will get a sense of your therapist and their style of practice during your initial evaluation. You should feel comfortable at the clinic and confident that you will receive the best care.

Do I need to see a physician before I can receive physical therapy?

The state of Nebraska does not require a patient to see a physician in order for them to receive physical therapy treatment, but many insurance companies do require you to obtain a prescription from your physician.

What should I expect on my first appointment?

Your first visit will include a thorough discussion of your medical history and a physical evaluation by the therapist to identify current and potential problems. Based on the results of the exams, your therapist will design a plan of care intended to deal with your particular physical issues, both during your clinic appointments and when you are at home. You should feel comfortable asking your physical therapist questions about your care plan, including concerns about specific interventions and expectations.

What do I need to bring to my first physical therapy appointment?

The first time you come to Skyline Physical Therapy, please bring your insurance information and your doctor’s prescription for therapy, if required. Also, any required co-pay. Clinic paperwork may be filled out on site, or downloaded from this website under Patient Information, filled out, and given to our office manager when you come for your appointment. If completing the paperwork at the clinic, please allow at least 15 extra minutes to finish the check-in process.

How long does a therapy session last?

Your initial evaluation will last between an hour to an hour and a half. Each subsequent physical therapy session lasts about one hour.

What should I wear to my physical therapy appointments?

You should wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. If needed, Skyline can provide gowns and athletic shorts.
